The Spanish block

Spanish, every day after lunch

Spanish is a subject of its own at Codex, and it is the language the guides speak in this block. Younger students sing, listen to stories and learn the words for the day's work. Older students read, write and talk things over.

The rest of the day is in English. Students from Spanish-speaking homes and students who are new to it sit in the same circle, and the guides pitch the work to each.

  • Songs and stories first, then conversation

  • Reading and writing in Spanish from the middle room

  • Guides who speak Spanish and English
